Our Story
We started planning the camp at the end of 2021. We set out to identify 25 African-American girls ages 10-17 from the Tampa Bay Area that would benefit from our offerings. We had each participant fill out a questionnaire and submit a 30 second video about why they wanted to participate in The Science of Beauty STEM Camp.

Over the course of the camp, the girls heard from a range of guest speakers in various areas of the beauty industry with a focus on Body, Hair, Makeup, and Skin. The camp was sponsored by Neiman Marcus of Tampa, Chanel, and Slarutan Labs.

Meet The FOUNDER
SAKEYA DONALDSON
Sakeya Donaldson, a multifaceted force in the world of fashion and beauty. Renowned as a Fashion Stylist, Author, and recipient of the prestigious 2023 Presidential Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award, Sakeya is also the visionary Founder of The Science of Beauty STEM Program. With two captivating books to her name, 'Fly Girl Approved' (2018) and 'Fly Girl Quotes' (2022), she shares her expertise and inspiration with readers worldwide. As an esteemed on-air fashion expert for Great Day Live Tampa Bay, Sakeya has graced the screens, showcasing her unparalleled talent and insights.
Throughout her illustrious career, Sakeya has collaborated with industry giants such as Usher, Nicki Minaj, and Zendaya, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in the global fashion arena. Drawing from over two decades of experience, she recognized a unique opportunity to merge her passion for fashion and beauty with the realms of science, thus birthing The Science of Beauty initiative.
